Sidequest Terms of Use
Sidequest is a chore-and-reward app for families, made by Fletchwork (“we”). These terms are an agreement between you and Fletchwork; our full legal name is at the end. By creating a Sidequest family or using the app you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use it.
1. Who can use it
- Parents and guardians create the account and run the Sidequest family: the parents and children who share chores and rewards in the app. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.
- Children use Sidequest only on a device their parent or guardian has paired, and only under that adult’s account. Children don’t have accounts of their own.
- By adding a child you confirm you are their parent or legal guardian, and you give permission for what the Privacy Policy says we keep about that child. You can withdraw that permission for one child, or remove the child, in the app at any time.
- Only a parent can buy Sidequest Plus (section 5). The children’s side of the app has nothing to buy.
2. Your account
You sign in with your Apple Account. Keep your Apple Account secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account. Contact us at [email protected] if you think someone is using your account in an unauthorized way. A Sidequest family can have more than one parent; adding more parents than Free includes needs Sidequest Plus (section 5). Each parent can delete their own account. When the last parent deletes theirs, the family is deleted. A family no parent opens for 12 months will be deleted too (section 9).
3. You manage your family
- You decide which chores and rewards exist, what a chore is worth, and whether a chore was done properly. Sidequest keeps score; it doesn’t judge whether a chore was done well or safely.
- Rewards are things you choose to give your children, such as time, treats, or privileges. Sidequest doesn’t provide or pay for them, and points and XP have no money value.
- Choose chores that are safe for the age and ability of your child, and supervise as you see fit. We are not responsible for what happens while a chore is done.
4. Using Sidequest well
Don’t try to break the service, access another family’s information, overload our systems, or copy or reverse-engineer the app beyond what the law allows. Don’t put anything in the app that is unlawful or that you don’t have the right to use. The names, chores, and rewards you type are visible only to your own Sidequest family.
5. Free and Sidequest Plus
- Free. Sidequest is free to download. Today, Free includes every child and the app’s chores, rewards, XP, battle pass seasons, built-in achievements, and reports, for one parent and up to 5 rewards in each battle pass season. Each plan’s limits are shown in the app, before you buy.
- Sidequest Plus is an optional subscription. It lets a Sidequest family have up to 4 parents and up to 200 rewards in each battle pass season, and it adds repeating rewards and custom achievements. Only a parent can buy it, from the parent’s side of the app. One subscription covers one Sidequest family, and every parent in that family gets Plus. It isn’t shared through Apple Family Sharing, and one Apple Account can pay for Plus in only one Sidequest family.
- Price and payment. Apple sells Plus for us through the App Store and charges your Apple Account. The price and how often you pay are shown before you confirm. We never see your card or bank details.
- Automatic renewal. Plus renews automatically at the end of each period, for the same length and at the price shown to you, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple charges each renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. To cancel or change plans, use your Apple Account settings (on iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions), or Sidequest Plus in the app’s Settings. After you cancel, you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for.
- Free month. A Sidequest family can try Plus free for one month, once. The app offers it only when both we and Apple say your family and your Apple Account can have it. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the free month ends, the subscription starts and Apple charges you.
- Refunds. Apple handles refunds under its own rules, including any refund the law where you live gives you. You can ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves, but email us and we’ll help you ask Apple.
- If two parents both subscribe, Apple bills both until one of you turns off auto-renew. The parent who turns it off can ask Apple for a refund.
- If Plus ends (you cancel, a payment still fails after Apple’s grace period, or Apple refunds it), the family goes back to Free. Nothing is deleted and nothing your children earned is taken away. What’s already set up stays as it is but can’t grow past Free’s limits: a battle pass season already set up keeps its rewards, and the next one holds Free’s 5. Custom achievements keep counting, but making or changing one needs Plus. One parent keeps full control. Other parents beyond Free’s limit can still see the family, but can’t approve chores or make changes until Plus comes back. They can still, for example, withdraw a child’s permission, remove a child, sign out a device, a widget, or a wall display, cancel a pairing code or an invite, change their own avatar and color, or delete their own account.
- Deleting your account doesn’t cancel Plus. Apple keeps billing until you turn off auto-renew in your Apple Account settings.
- Changes. We may change what Free and Plus include. We’ll tell you in the app before such a change takes effect. Plus prices for future periods may also change: Apple tells you before a price increase applies, and asks for your agreement where its rules or the law require it. Other changes follow section 8.
6. Your content
The names, chores, and rewards you enter stay yours. You give us permission to store and display them to your Sidequest family, and to make backups, so the service works. We don’t use them for anything else.
7. Apple
You get Sidequest through the Apple App Store, and Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app alongside these terms. Apple isn’t a party to these terms and isn’t responsible for the app, its support, or any claim about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Apple EULA and may enforce it against you.
8. Changes to the service and to these terms
We may change or stop features. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we’ll tell parents in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use Sidequest afterward means you accept it. If you don’t accept, stop using Sidequest: delete your account and, if you pay for Plus, turn off auto-renew.
9. Ending things
You can stop using Sidequest and delete your account any time (see the Privacy Policy, section 7). Deleting your account doesn’t cancel Sidequest Plus; turn off auto-renew in your Apple Account settings (section 5). If no parent opens Sidequest for 12 months, we will delete the Sidequest family, after telling its parents in the app and by notification at least 30 days before. We count those 12 months from October 1, 2026 at the earliest, so this can’t happen before October 2027, and a family with an active Plus subscription isn’t deleted this way until the subscription ends (Privacy Policy, section 7). We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
10. No warranty, and limits on our liability
Sidequest is provided “as is” and “as available”. We try to keep it running and your history safe, but it may not always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, Fletchwork isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to US$50 or what you paid for Sidequest Plus in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is more. Nothing here limits liability that the law says can’t be limited, and your legal rights as a consumer stay as they are.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state and federal courts located in Orange County, Florida. If you are a consumer, these terms don’t take away any protection the law where you live gives you, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
12. General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Sidequest, and we’ll tell you in the app first. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sidequest. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
